Below is recording-artist Louis Lamp's interview "with the man, the myth, the legend, Frank Cotolo. This is the interview where I learn that I'm just too nice...

LL: So Frank, tell us a little about yourself.
FC: I hate talking about myself. Suffice it to say that I am a zen master, living life for the moment, although I am concerned about my triglicerides. Being a zen master doesn't pay the rent, so I write and perform for a living. I have been a professional writer and performer all of my life. I am no good at carpentry, plumbing or automobile mechanics. However, I once lifted a car off the ground with two fingers.
LL: Of the myriad of jobs you've had in the industry, and you picked a favorite, which would it be?
FC: I can answer that question differently in the morning than I would in the evening. Funny, but sometimes I like being a musician/singer better than being a writer and other times I don't want to do either of them and be a hobo. In fact, I have a little metal cup that I sometimes fill with stew and take into my backyard to eat the way a bum would eat it, sitting on the ground. I even use my hands to scoop up the stew. But I do love broadcasting. I wish that personality radio would make a comeback. I guess there just aren't enough personalities around to do it.
LL: What sorts of projects keep you busy now?
FC: I am always writing a book. Last year I finished "The Complete and Unadbridged History of Japan" and this year I am working on one titled "The Halls of Knowledge." I am also involved in a television project, a movie project and two other projects that I hope will yield some dough before my car tanks.
LL: If you had the ability to add something new to the music industry, what would it be?
FC: Have a picture of me somewhere on every CD cover.
LL: If you had the ability to change something in the industry, what would you change?
FC: I would pass a law to stop the writing of new songs. There are too many great songs now and too many people out there littering the world with new ones. I think all the best songs have already been written. I stopped writing songs and I urge others to follow suit because the world is more polluted with songs than those gasses that Al Gore keeps shouting about.
LL: If you could remove something from the industry, what would you remove?
FC: The Dixie Chicks' dresses.

The storm as passed and thanks to our crack tech team the crack in our cyberworks has been mended and we are back online.

We are reconstructing the machine that brings you the live broadcast, which creates the podcasts and rebroadcasts on other stations. This means spending more time on getting the program up and running than it takes to do an entire program. Some things you just can't wing, ya know?

Kink in the system

Through no fault of mine, the Aug. 14 program has been canceled. The problems are technical. I am fine, though I have a small growth on my inner thigh but that wouldn't stop me. What stops me is the new technology, some zeroes and ones and malfunctioning hardware, along with drooping software.

So, no live broadcast, no podcasts. Affiliates are asked to air a replay this week. Next week we hope to have all problems solved, except for that skirmish over in Russia, which we have no control over. But we will be here, all things being equal, so stay tuned, keep in touch, roll away the stone and we will see ya there!

Cotolo Chronicles has been renewed for another year by Network 1KX, SRN One, in South York, Ontario, Canada, to continue the live broadcasts on Thursday nights at 9 p.m. EST.

Since the demise of Ampcast, SRN One has been the home facility for the "godfather of internet talk radio," and his two-hour landmark broadcast now in its second decade.

AT&T is thinking of charging more for those who download too much data. Spokesperson Michael Coe claims that about 5 percent of their DSL customers use 46 percent of their bandwidth, while overall usage doubles every year and a half.
Time Warner is already charging its customers in Beaumont, Texas, who go over their bandwidth limit $1.00 per gigabyte. If you are one of those who downloads movies and TV shows, especially in hi-def, don’t move to the Lonestar state.

R.I.P. Russert

One personal note I have to make public: I am so very distressed at the death of Tim Russert.

Here was a member of my generation's tribe, a better behaved man than most of us, who rose to success, defying the standards set by the media (see the movie Broadcast News for more reference to this issue) and settling firmly into the mainstream to become a force. He stood for something rare and important for his generation.

To fall in such a pedestrian manner is both distressing and demoralizing to Baby Boomers everywhere for whom the bell tolled. We are a generation so much more lost than Hemingway's troupe. That a rare few managed to break barriers, beat the odds and continue to help us believe there is a city on the hill was that which helped keep many hopes alive.

However, Buffalo Bill is defunct.

I have been talking again. Like I do now and then, I talk and I have it published at TALK and I direct people to that blog to read what I have talked about.

You may find that there is no value at all to my blogstreamed thoughts. Or you may decide to change your entire lifestyle based upon something that strikes you when you read my talk. But if you decide to base a motion picture script upon what I have written, you had better let me know or you will hear from my lawyers. Ok, my lawyer, I only have one. Ok, so he is not on retainer; I can get a hold of him in an hour. Ok, maybe in a day.

PodOmatic's refurbishing is causing some trouble. Glitches are a part of this digital atmosphere, so we all have to be patient.

Fit like a glove

NEW YORK, Reuters -- Champion golfer Tiger Woods has won yet another title, The Fittest Guy in America, with Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama and Cotolo Chronicles' Frank Cotolo also making the list of America's fittest men compiled by Men's Fitness magazine.

The magazine said Woods was selected "because of his commitment to being the best and setting the bar, not just for other golfers, but for all athletes."

Obama, 46, also made the list, praised for his stamina throughout the election campaign. According to the magazine, the Illinois senator "starts every day with a morning workout, whether it's machines at the hotel gym or a brisk 45-minute run" while his basketball skills had earned him the nickname "Barry O'Bomber."

Cotolo, 57, was third on the list based on his sheer will to survive. An active lawnmower and local cycler, Cotolo has weathered many health and personal-conflict storms. His consistency delivering a worthwhile broadcast weekly and his new venture into video are two more reasons he was chosen.

California's Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, 61, a former action movie star and bodybuilder, was right behind Cotolo. Others to make the list included actors Will Smith, Brad Pitt and Hugh Jackman, British footballer David Beckham and skateboarders Tony Hawk and Ryan Sheckler. British actor Daniel Craig, 40, who beat out Cotolo for the James Bond role this time around, was next after turning an entire soundstage on a London set into a personal gym to get in shape for the latest Bond movie, Quantum of Solace.
